Attermire Mixture

 20 July

Fifteen years have gone by since the last visit to the dramatic West Yorkshire landscape dominated by the multiple buttresses and outcrops going collectively by the name of;

Attermire Scar

Headed for the far flung South West Buttress overlooking Settle in the valley with views stretching All the Way to Memphis Morecambe Bay  



 A good walk up bottom right to upper left

Galicia

 June 25 - July 7

Straight from Bucolica to the port of Plymouth for the 16.45 Sunday sailing on Brittany Ferry's Pont Aven to Santander.  Setting out on the long planned road trip to Galicea.

A working fishing town with a lively scene around the harbour

Very quiet beach!

Good stopover for two nights en route to west coast of Galicea about 2 hours 30 minutes further west


Tuesday pm meal just got the last outside table at this spot on the harbour. Croquetas etc.

Drive out to the west for a board walk along the Atlantic coast at Montalvo on the Punta Albelleira

Returned for lunch at the beach side restaurant

"El Pirate"  (Aarrgh!)

Fabulous almejas in a soupy sauce, and juicy entrecote.

Saturday

Morning drive to Armenteira Monastery
Couldn't stay long, got cloisterphobia

Then on to Camabados, busy town on north of peninsula

Stayed for a beer then back to Combarro for afternoon eats



Combarro Moonrise

Margaret has found a nice hotel in Noia - about 40 miles north.

A top spot and easy access to Santiago de Compastela, the cathedral is a shrine for thousands of pilgrims annually.

Easy drive up to Noia, 2 hours, check in Hotel Noia 13.00. 

Eats.




The heat goes on

Out for eats in the old town.  Empanada (corn pie) with scallop and yellow pepper stuffing.  Local!


Tomorrow it's Monday and bus trip to Santiago six euros return!
