Lions in Liverpool!
Had to put up with a top end Barn in the West End of the City, still made to feel unbelievably welcome in our gated close in the suburbs.

Park Life
Another opportunity for a short day whilst the Easter weather remains fabulous. Stokesley Leisure Centre car park the perfect spot to meet and head straight up to the chosen venue. However the novelty and excitement of it all proved too much, had to double back to collect the climbing rope. So for the second time of asking arrived in earnest at the sun soaked;
Park Nab
A party already in action, none other than Mr MB and partner MS
MS commits to the slippy right foot on Twin Cracks
Good effort for an early trad lead

BP reviews the details of another superb day up in the NYM
As usual at this venue the grades and height gained seem inversely proportional to the effort expended

The Moor the Merrier
Wednesday 17th April
The beast from the east was on the run, good time to head back that way for another tour of the usual suspects, plus some less frequented options at the always reliable;
Scot Crags
BP looks sharp on Razor Rib Direct
Warming up
Note lack of sleeves and bare flesh
BP tries to find another eight inches from somewhere
MT is out of sight, but nonetheless generous with top rope on this rarely attempted route
Reachy and inventive moves lead to a fingery slot, followed by a smear fest top out.
AT throws a
shape at it.

In logbook as TR
Once again in good company on the crag
A few other parties joining in throughout the day
Tooth and Nail in perfect condition
BP ready to jam it out
What have the Romulans ever done for us?
Note BP more solos
Let's Rarck!

A Bit on the Side
Wednesday April 10th
A frost in the village signalled the start of another cold bright day, with a solid forecast over the other side. Dreamed up a plan to meet all requirements including an adventurous variation on a much travelled route on;
Black Crag, Borrowdale
Despite the school holiday and fine weather, no problems parking in the layby near Troutdale Cottages. A half hour walk in saw us at the foot of the crag with a party of three well established on Troutdale Pinnacle Direct P2.
Climbers on TP Direct
Maybe there will be time to get that one done as well?
Immediate plan is TP P1-3 plus Holly Tree Corner P4.
NB sets the tone by opting for the awkward crescent crack in the middle of P2 at about 4a.
AT inspired to tackle the impressive off width at the start of the route.
Finger locks not required.
AT arrives at the belay below P3
From the next belay the fourth pitch of Holly Tree Corner is the bit on the side that heads up and right under the big overhang. Tricky moves gain a gangway round the corner that opens up interesting(!) climbing on clean rock then a short gorse-fest to an oak tree belay.

Our chosen route follows three pitches of Troutdale Pinnacle, to where the belay is shared below the fourth pitch of Holly Tree Corner.
Descent by abseil (40m) from tree fitted with brand new static and mallion (in situ).
NB abbing off down the bit on the side

Phew!
The original plan was conceited enough to assume that we could follow on to Troutdale Pinnacle Direct.
That idea came from the unicorns in fantasy land.
So at 15.50 reality said it seemed wise to call it a draw.
