Ripping Yarn Cliffs

Monday May 11th

MULTI-PEAK!

Very changeable weather - best option looks like the Peak so head down to Burbage North in the hope that the wind factor would be tolerable, but after three routes it was getting worse so took a fast kite over to Yarncliffe for some welcome shelter and improving weather, and some very enjoyable 20m routes in good company.  More to do there on the right day.

At Burbage North
Short but packed with quality

Unlike the climber

Soloist on 20 foot crack

Think he'd been up it a few dozen times already over the years

Same route on lead

Hard to start, but BP sorts it out and sees it through, sustained 4b all the way but with good gear

Abandoned Burbage, topping out being pretty hairy in the burgeoning force six.

Yarncliffe complete change of vibe; warmer, calmer, longer altogether more amenable

AT on Outdoor Centre Route, a bit loose and dirty but most of it is still there so can't complain

BP getting all set for the top section on Latecomer.

The finish eschews the crack and heads up the imposing 4m headwall directly above.  A rather precarious top out follows.

AT on Ant Wall

Some bites brought back home

The crack on the left made a fine finish to the day with BP leading

Rather fractured sky indicates high altitude winds

More to do at this inviting venue, bring a brush!
